If your answer is no, then you have to make the change!Growing up, I never heard I love you, never had any hugs, and felt so unloved. Though my parents did provide for me, I desperately needed to hear and feel it. I especially began thinking of this more after moving to the US and being around my American friends. Their parents would always hug and tell them that they love them. I realized that my parents didn't have that while growing up either, so, therefore, they didn't know how to show love in that way. When I had my children, I promised myself I would always hug them and tell them that I loved them. Well, it was easier said than done! Something that was supposed to be natural felt so unnatural. So I didn't do it often, but I longed to be affectionate and say I love you to my children regularly. I wanted them to honestly know that I loved them and not just their provider. Over time it got easier and started to feel natural. I did it without having the remind myself to hug them and say that I loved them. And they, in turn, reciprocate the same to me. And it felt good! If our Heavenly Father constantly elaborates and shows us how much he loves us, doesn't that mean he knows the kind of beings he created? He gave us emotions to feel, a sense of touch, etc. Science shows that hugging is associated with physical growth that triggers oxytocin release, also known as the love hormone. It has significant effects on our bodies. One is growth stimulation. Studies have also proven that hugging can instantly boost the level of oxytocin. It also helps you and your child to bond!Have you ever seen a sad Child or a child throwing a temper tantrum, and all because of a hug, their whole attitude or emotion changes to a better mood? Have you ever had a long day at work, just stressed out? You walk into the house, and without any words, your spouse sees the stress in your face, gives you the biggest hug, and says, I love you? Instantly nothing else matters in the world. Not your job, the stress, your headache, nothing. All the weight of your focus is lifted off of you.
Well, did you know that oxytocin can induce anti-stress to reduce stress? If we could only have more Hugs in this world! There would be less stress! Hugging helps build confidence and resilience, I can go on and on, but you get the point, hugging is vital to our whole existence as Human beings. How about I LOVE YOU? How does that make you feel when you hear those three words. It's like that person doesn't care who knows that they love you. No matter where you're at, they want the world to know, doesn't that make you feel special and loved. That exactly what our Heavenly Father does, reassuring us in his Holy Bible over and over, his love for us. Should we not do the same for our loved ones. Saying I love you reassures the person that your love is true. Saying "I Love You" indicates actual vulnerability and intimacy between you and your partner. Every time you care for someone more fully and tell them how much you care, you increase the person's self-worth. So don't forget to tell your loved ones that you love them, and Definitely, don't forget those Hugs. 1 Corinthians 16:14 "Let all that you do be done in love.".
